Exercise

Any activity where you are being physically active is exercise.

There are three basic forms of exercise, and they all affect your body in positive ways.

Strength: requires a short powerful burst of movement. It builds lean, toned, strong muscles, and it also helps you to develop strong bones.

Examples: climbing, handstands, playing tug of war, riding up a steep hill, aerial silks, or lyra.

Stamina: is an energetic movement that lasts for a longer period. It increases your cardiovascular health, giving you a stronger heart and lungs.

Examples: Playing tag, soccer, basketball, swimming, snowboarding, cycling, and running.

Flexibility: lets your body move with a bigger range of motion, fluently and without pain.

Examples: dancing, gymnastics, skateboarding, surfing, yoga, aerial silks, or lyra.

As well as promoting a leaner, healthier, stronger body, exercise also assists you in producing more of your feel-good endorphins, which helps you process stress, elevates your moods and brings more joy into your life.

For kids aged 6 – 17 years, 60 minutes or more of daily exercise is recommended.

Use the hack IN questions below to find out what your body needs more or less of to thrive.

Hack IN:-)

1. Determine which of the 3 exercise types you need to optimize.

2. Ask: In total, how many minutes of this type of exercise do I need per day to function at my best?

  • Start at 30 minutes and increase by 10 minutes until you get a yes answer.

  • If you get to 90 minutes and you have not received a “yes”, recenter and try again.

3. Ask: How often do I need Strength Exercises? ___x/week, and for how long? ___ minutes.

Ask: How often do I need Stamina Exercises? ___x/week, and for how long? ___ minutes.

Ask: How often do I need Flexibility Exercises? ___x/week, and for how long? ___ minutes.

4. Take notes to re-reference your findings as you go through the above questions.

Underlying Imbalance

Ask: To successfully implement more exercise into my life, is it necessary to clear an underlying imbalance first?

  • If no, move to healing intention.

  • If yes, Hack IN and clear the underlying imbalance before increasing your exercise.

Healing Intention

Using common sense implement the changes your body is requesting from your hack IN process above. Remember there are many different ways to exercise and move your body so choose something that you find interesting and enjoyable to achieve your greatest success.

- your notes may look something like this:

Lifestyle: physical body - exercise x 2 – strength + flexibility = book trial class at aerial silks center.

(aerial silks class – 6km away – will work on strength + flexibility in a super fun & exciting way:)
